Our museum and heritage centre tells the story of the people and history of Chippenham and the surrounding villages from prehistoric times up until the present day. As well as being able to explore the collections on display you are welcome to use our research room, using the collection for work, school or to explore the past (please call in advance to book the dedicated research room). We are an active and friendly community museum situated in the heart of this busy Wiltshire market town. The museum is located in a beautiful Grade II listed Georgian building in the Market Place. With a façade reputedly by John Wood the Younger, the building was once the home of the town’s MP. It is connected to a pub that moved, a woollen entrepreneur, the King of England and Viking raiders! Opening Hours Monday - Saturday 10am - 4pm Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day CLOSED FREE entry |
