Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens
Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, established in 1765, was described by Alan Titchmarsh as "one of the finest Gardens I have ever visited." It has been featured on TV regularly, most recently in Gardeners’ World and the Great British Garden Revival series on Tropical Gardens.
But importantly for parents there is also a Children’s Play Area!
The gardens are beautiful and well laid out with a good variety of plants from all over the world and easy to follow routes. The gardens include a Secret Walk, a Summer House to explore and a Sculpture Trail to follow. There are lots of little bridges over the waterways to cross but no steeps slopes and minimal gravel, which is good for anyone, from toddlers to seniors, who may be unsteady on their feet.
