UpRoot is a new play by Andrew McPherson which will be performed by Churchill Theatre Young Company on 8 & 9 July at ACT theatre in Kingston, as part of part of the International Youth Arts Festival (IYAF) which runs from 6 -15 July.
It’s summer, and a galvanised and graceless gaggle of teenagers from the suburbs of London attempt to hit the edit button on their collective identity. What better place for Generation Z to find itself than at the urban utopia of the UPROOT music festival. A fast-paced and dynamic piece of new writing excavating the best and worst of what it means to be young right now. Producer Kiaran Hall comments, “UPROOT cracks along with a ferocious wit and provides the ideal opportunity to catch the festival vibe this summer.”
Based at the Churchill Theatre, this magnificent company of young actors have an ever growing reputation for producing professional level plays that inspire, entertain and galvanise. They meet weekly at the Churchill Theatre under the guidance of Andrew McPherson and Katie Greenall.
Now in its tenth year, International Youth Arts Festival (IYAF) is the UK’s biggest multi-arts festival for performers aged under 27, featuring some of the best new work from talented rising stars.
