Bembridge Lifeboat Station is at the end of a long pier so you and the kids can enjoy the views of the coast as you arrive. The station is very well maintained and has a lift for disabled access and prams. It has lots of information about the RNLI locally and nationally to inspire kids with stories of bravery and rescues! There are plenty of intriguing items of memorabilia on display to look at too. The Beach Safety display is an excellent opportunity for the kids to learn more about how the stay safe when they are on the beach. Other enhancements to the visitor experience for adults and kids using i-pads are currently under development. The friendly volunteers who are on duty are very well informed and will be happy to answer any questions that you or the kids have. If it isn’t too busy, the kids may also have a chance to dress up as mini lifeboat crew, complete with helmets! A great opportunity for family photos and chance for the imaginative kids to role play, if just for a moment! The beach area near the station should also be a hit with the kids as there are lots of rock pools, plus places to sit and (if you are there at the right time), watch the lifeboat launch from or return to the station. Admission: Free but donations welcome! Opening Times: Open daily but check online to see launch and Open Day dates |
