Museum: Ranging from Egyptian mummies to local history and wildlife, Bolton's collection has something for everyone. You can browse some of our collections on this site or look at some of our collection highlights. AQUARIUM: All of the fish at Bolton Aquarium are freshwater fish, whose natural habitats are streams, rivers or lakes. This makes us almost unique within the UK, as most public aquaria show mostly marine fish. Each display in the aquarium is intended to represent a particular habitat and contains species which can be found together in nature. All the exhibits are designed to allow the inhabitants to show as many of their natural behaviour patterns as possible and to limit the possibility of any stress. Feeding times The aquarium team try to ensure that when we are feeding the fish, an announcement will be made over the public address system. A member of the aquarium team will be on hand to give a fascinating insight into how the fish feed in their natural habitats and are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. Admission: Free for all! Opening Times
We are also open Bank Holidays though we recommend you check before visiting to make sure. At Bolton Central Library and Museum we have a wide range of activities and resources to entertain the whole family. You can visit the aquarium which is home to an amazing range of freshwater fish from all over the world. |
