Camperdown Country Park is the largest public park in Dundee and owes its name and fame to the victory of Admiral Adam Duncan over the Dutch fleet in 1797 at the Battle of Camperdown, off the Dutch coast. The park which is home to no fewer than 190 species of trees, was opened to the public in 1949. The Camperdown Play Complex, situated near the Wildlife Centre, features a state-of-the-art play area with pieces of play equipment to suit different age groups. Slides, climbing nets and suspension bridges are all located around a crow's nest, creating a pirate-ship theme. The park serves as a backdrop for a variety of special events taking place throughout the year: their is now a new cafe and refurbished wild life centre |
