Canterbury Guided Walking Tours Founded in 1948 as the Canterbury Guild of Guides, these folks have been entertaining curious families with local knowledge retold with flair ever since! It's no surprise then that they're hugely experienced and highly accredited, reaping both new and repeat visitors season after season. Tickets for Walking Tours are available from Canterbury Visitor Centre (in the High Street), from the Roman Museum (Butchery Lane) or online. You can't pre book, but on the other hand, you don't have to pre book! That said one can pre book a Special Interest Tour, which is an excellent option should any of their tours happen to coincide with what the kids are doing at school! With bonus options including a Dickens focused one, a separate literary one, a particularly gruesome one, a more geographically oriented tour and several others besides. Great for if you need more depth than the standard variety! In either case the tour length is 90 minutes, so given the length and depth of the excursion it's best for less than boisterous over 8s, younger are welcome, but you naturally retain all responsibility for them and the tour must maintain the set pace, gentle though it is! Admission: Daily Tours: Adults £7.50 Children under 12 for £5.50 Concessions £7 Family Ticket £25 Opening Times: Tours in English depart from the Buttermarket twice-daily at 11am and 2pm from 1st April to 31st October and daily at 11am during the rest of the year.
