Carisbrooke Castle
Carisbrooke Castle, famous for its donkeys and as a royal prison to Charles I and now the location of the stunning new Edwardian-style Princess Beatrice Garden.
Enjoy the birds-eye view from the castle keep and walk around the battlements; delight in the demonstrations of the donkeys working the 16th century treadwheel or relax in the Princess Beatrice Garden, designed by TV presenter and award winning garden designer, Chris Beardshaw!
Plus see history brought to life with the fun and dramatic film, experiment with armour and discover how to fire cannons.

Children love dressing up as Norman soldiers or Civil War troops in the gatehouse: bring a camera!
Come and watch their daily working donkey demonstrations working the 16th century tread wheel to raise the water up (49 metres) from the bottom of the castle well and watch their celebrity voiced animation about life as a donkey!
There is also a museum with its fascinating Charles I memorabilia and you can play bowls on the green, too! Plus there are seasonal events scattered throughout the year including a spooky Halloween Spectacular!
