Chartwell was the Churchill family home and is a fascinating resource for personal information on him. Ideal for school age kids and interested sorts, with a few peripheral attractions to soften the blow to those who just wanted to play today! The rooms which Churchill frequented remain much as they were when he did, with personal pictures, books and mementoes offering intriguing behind the scenes insights into his life. He loved the hillside gardens and they include the lakes he created himself, Lady Churchill's famous rose garden, the traditional kitchen garden and a playhouse built for Mary Soames. You can catch a tour of the garden every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 2pm. Admission: Whole Property: Adult: £12.50 Child: £6.25 Family: £31.25 Partial access is lower cost, so you may wish to skip the gardens if it's cats and dogs, or skip the house if the kids won't stop shouting and running about! Opening Times: Seasonal opening times best checked on site, but when they are open generally everything is from 10am to 5pm. At some times however the grounds are open while the house is not, so it really is best planned ahead.
