College Lake Nature Reserve is thought of as one of the best places in Buckinghamshire to see water birds such as lapwings and redshanks.
- There are a number of hides that overlook the lake and give you a great place to bird watch.
- There are so many habitats to explore such as chalk grassland covered in butterflies and insects, plus the scrub, hedgerows and woodland that spread across the reserve. Keep an eye out for small mammals and birds of prey, like barn owls and kestrels.
-
There is a Farming and
Wildlife exhibition in the Wildlife Centre, which gives you a chance to
find out about old farming methods.
- The Time Trail is good for your first visit, just follow the ammonite markers. If you would like to explore the whole reserve, follow the lapwing markers for a 2 mile (3.2k) circular trail.
- The reserve runs various Family events during school holidays throughout the year, such as Wildlife Discovery Days and Teddy Bears’ picnics and trails!
