Dewa Roman Experience
Dewa Roman Experience is located at the heart of the site of a legionary fortress that was discovered by archaeologists in 1991, with the excavations left open for public awe!
You will be immersed in Roman Britain from the start as your visit will begin in the dark hold of a Roman Galley, where you will learn of the dangers you will face as you near the edge of known world, from Grapus the Oars Master!
Once you leave the Galley, you will see the reconstructed barracks, bathhouse, granary, taverna, and market stalls that would have made up part of the original fortress that was once home to the “brave and victorious” Twentieth Legion that was 5,000 strong! This is a great opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and even smells of Roman Britain, and to view genuine Roman, Saxon, and Medieval remains buried beneath Chester.
