Donington le Heath Manor House
The museum is based in a Medieval Manor House dating back to 1280.

The house has a fascinating history and is now restored with fine oak furnishings. Visitors to the house can now see restored rooms and displays on medieval life as well as a series of temporary exhibitions on a wide range of subjects. The house is set in recently recreated 17th century style gardens with flower gardens, an orchard, herb gardens and a maze.

Based in a Medieval Manor House dating back to 1280, the house hasa fascinating history and was owned by one of the Gunpowder Plotters!Donington le Heath Manor House is a surviving example of a family home built around seven hundred years ago and modernised in 1618. Surrounding the Manor House, are period gardens and woodland planted as part of the development of the National Forest.

Please be aware the Donington le Heath Manor House is currently
undergoing a period of refurbishment. During this time we will be
running a series of public events and activities at the Manor House.

There is a unique selection of gifts and books, reflective of our heritage and gardens, to purchase from the museum shop located inside the Manor House. The adjoining stone barn is home to the Classics Tea Room.
Events are all year round with various new permanent exhibitions, a virtual tour and interactive displays.

Donington le Heath Manor House is a surviving example of a family home built around seven hundred years ago and modernised in 1618. Surrounding the Manor House, are period gardens and woodland planted as part of the development of the National Forest. The gardens, re-created in a 17th century style, include flower and herb gardens, an ornamental maze and an orchard. The Old Barn Team Room is open at weekends during term time and Wednesday to Sunday during school holidays, serving home baked cakes, light lunches and a range of hot and cold drinks. Look out for our programme of great family events, which cover a wide range of subjects over the year.
