East Hill Cliff Railway Unlike some resorts that boast more than one funicular railway, at Hastings the two railways could not be more different despite the fact that they were both originally designed on the water balance principle. The East Hill railway is a far more striking addition to the town, simply because it can actually be seen! This was cut into the face of the cliff, whereas the West Hill railway is largely hidden in a tunnel dug through the cliff. The East Hill Lift (as it's locally known) provides access to Hastings Country Park which overlooks the Old Town and Rock a Nore. The lift provides views over the Stade, home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe. Admission: Adult £2.50 per ticket Child £1.50 Concession £1.50 Family 2A + 3C £6.80 Opening Times: Timetabling runs 10.30am to 5.30pm daily with some seasonal variations.
