Ecclesall Woods
Ecclesall Woods are the largest semi natural woodland in South Yorkshire and are popular due to range of wildlife, plus the archaeological and historic features.
It is a wonderful place to go for a family walk, with over 15km (about 9.5 miles) of bridleways and paths to explore. There is also an ‘Easy Going' trail for those who are less able bodied, or in wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Historic features to look out for include a World War Two bomb crater that was created in December 1940. There is also evidence of saw pits, charcoal heaths and quarrying in these ancient woods, plus a 200 year old oak tree!
There are loads of animals to keep an eye out for such as badgers, woodpeckers and jays, plus a large variety of plants and interesting fungi.
