How Stean Gorge

Get kitted up in harness and helmet and enjoy the challenge of our unique Ultimate Via Ferrata.  Following that you will get changed into a wetsuit and experience the thrill of the 40 ft Abseil. From the bridge you descend into the gushing water below. You will then go Gorge Walking. Feel the force of the water as you forge your way upstream. Climb through waterfalls and deep pools before you turn around and enjoy sliding down waterspouts and going with the flow back to the beginning.

A well-earned lunch will then be provided in our café before starting on the afternoon adventures. In the afternoon you will head to  Scar House Reservoir for a session of open canoeing before exploring some of the caves and underground passages which are all around us in Upper Nidderdale.

Try out five thrilling activities all in one day! Get the adrenaline pumping as you abseil, gorge scramble, explore the Via Ferrata, venture into the caves and canoe on open water or rock climb. Suitable for individuals or group bookings and ideal for a hen or stag party! Due to these activities taking place in the great outdoors, some times the weather may blow to hard for canoeing in which case an alternative activity will take place.

A Yorkshire Day out at How Stean Gorge involves a great trip to get here travelling up beautiful Nidderdale,  Winding & twisting roads slow you down to the laid back pace of the upper dale.

The gorge a steep sided chasm is almost a kilometre in length and up to 20 metres (80 feet) deep. Follow winding paths and aerial footbridges along the ravine, explore dark caves by torchlight or experience one of our exhilarating outdoor adventure activities including the new Via Ferrata – 1 of only 2 in England! Whatever the weather, the gorge is a special place to be!
