Howletts is a breeding sanctuary for some of the most rare and endangered species in the world. With over 450 animals and over 50 individual species, visitors have the opportunity to see real animals, real close and be part of real conservation in action. Home to the world’s largest collection of critically endangered western lowland gorillas and the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, Howletts offers visitors the chance to get up close to Amur tigers, Northern Chinese leopards, lions and wolves in their glass fronted enclosures and walk with lemurs as the Madagascan favourites explore the branches overhead. Set in 100 acres of historic parkland, there are wooded walkways and pathways to explore and fun and fact filled animal talks taking place at various times throughout the year, so there’s plenty for visitors of all ages to discover and enjoy.
