Imperial War Museum North
Imperial War Museum North, or IWM North, provides an exciting free day out for all the family and brings to life stories of how war has shaped lives over the past century.

A varied programme of events, activities and hands-on interactive displays makes the subject matter accessible to all ages.

Discover how war shapes lives through revealing powerful stories, such as a soldier’s last letter home, to objects like the twisted steel of the World Trade Centre.

Housed in a building representing a globe torn apart by conflict, this is a unique place to find out more about conflict during the last century.

A trip to IWM North is ultimately about people and their stories, and about how war continues to shape and change lives.

Their Main Exhibition Space takes you and yours through a timeline of the wars Britain and the Commonwealth have been involved in, all the way from the First World War up to the present day.

There are special spaces called ‘Silos’ focussing on differing but related themes from the role of women, to wartime science and technology.

Opening Times:
Open daily 10am to 5pm (last admission at 4.30pm)
Closed 24th, 25th and 26th December.
