Romantic 16th-century castle with spectacular views, transformed by Lutyens into an Edwardian holiday home
  • Tudor castle converted into an Edwardian home
  • Intimate decoration and design by Lutyens
  • Perched atop a rocky island crag, accessible only by causeway
  • Charming Getrude Jekyll walled-garden
  • Fantastic views of Farne Island and Bamburgh Castle

What's new this year
Due to the recent renovation of the traditional upturned boat sheds, visitors can view the interior of a 19th-century herring drifter

Holy Island can only be reached by vehicle or on foot via a 3ml causeway, which is closed from 2 hours before high tide until 3 hours after. Tide tables are printed in local newspapers, on Northumberland CC website and displayed at the causeway. To avoid disappointment check safe crossing times before making a long/special journey. No large bags, pushchairs or rucksacks inside castle, please. Emergency WC only; otherwise nearest WC in village 1ml from castle
