All the Little Steps Gym classes have a set format and the class theme changes every week. Themes can be anything from a space adventure to a walk in the park. We aim to encourage children to join into the activity by making every class lots of fun. Every week we cover many different skills including co-ordination and balance. Every class includes music and lots of hand apparatus, from hoops to bean bags. We have an excellent selection of larger equipment and our aim is to have a different selection every week. In our Steps Babies Children and parents work together on a large matted area, this makes for an ideal environment for young children to have lots of safe fun, using softplay equipment specially designed for this age group. Classes aim to encourage early movement and co-ordination using nursery rhymes, simple songs, hand held equipment such as balls and quoits. Babies can start at young as 6 months, enjoying the colourful and stimulating equipment. It's an excellent environment to develop social skills and give parents an opportunity to meet other parents with similar aged children. The Steps Toddlers classes have more structure and help to build the child’s concentration. Children are encourage to work with parents on Action, Balance and Co-ordination skills. The classes are designed to encourage early imaginary abilities with the use of movement to simple story telling. Children use exciting softplay equipment in combination with our Gymtime climbing apparatus. Both the Little Steps reward scheme and the British gymnastics rewards are implemented in this age group as an incentive and to help parents monitor their child's progression. In the Steps Kids classes children work in small groups with a coach. They work to our exciting program of pre-school reward schemes, which includes forward rolls and log rolls. Each child is encouraged to use their imagination in our fun warm ups and and to develop good ABC skills though the use of hand apparatus. The class includes the use of Gymtime equipment to develop confidence and improve fitness. Both the Little Steps reward scheme and the British gymnastics rewards are implemented in this age group as an incentive and to help parents monitor their child's progression.
