Creating the Forest of Marston Vale is about using trees and woodlands to repair a damaged landscape, addressing the effects of the brick making industry, which had flourished for over a hundred years between Bedford and Milton Keynes. The headline target is to achieve 30% tree cover by 2031, but trees are just the tool to deliver the aim of environmentally-led regeneration, providing social, economic and environmental benefits both now and into the future. Such a bold and long-term vision takes dedication and commitment to turn it into a reality. The Marston Vale Trust was formed to do just this – a small, passionate organisation with a clear focus on creating the Forest. As the independent registered charity (no. 1069229) responsible for leading the creation of the Forest of Marston Vale, our work involves a wide range of things, from the predictable tree planting to the operation of our Forest Centre & Millennium Country Park at the heart of the Forest. Admission: Free admission. Opening Times: Year round daylight access. Visitor Centre 8am to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm weekends, closing an hour later daily in summer. |
