ODDA'S CHAPEL
One of the most complete surviving Saxon churches in England, this chapel was built in 1056 by Earl Odda, a relation of Edward the Confessor. It was incorporated into a farmhouse in the 17th century, with a kitchen in the nave and a bedroom in the chancel, and rediscovered in 1865. Nearby is the equally famous Saxon parish church.

Opening Times: Open daily, 10am-6pm April to October, and 10am-4pm November to March.

Parking: There is a charged car park opposite the chapel, not managed by English Heritage.

Facilities: Toilets, shops and food outlets can be found a short drive away in Tewksbury.

Dogs: Assistance dogs only.

Odda's Chapel is a great place to break your journey along the Severn Way walk.

A short walk away through the picturesque village of Deerhurst is St Mary's Priory Church which contains many elaborate Anglo-Saxon features including Carvings and sculptures.

While in the area don't miss a visit to St Mary's Church, Kempley, which contains some fine examples of medieval wall paintings.

19 miles away is Goodrich Castle, one of the finest and best preserved of all English medieval castles.  The castle boasts a fascinating history, spectacular views from the battlements and a delightful tearoom.
