Richmond Park, originally a deer-hunting park, still has 300 Red Deer and 350 fallow deer living wild on the grounds. It is also a top site to see ancient trees, especially oaks, endangered species of fungi, and a number of scarce beetles! It is free to visit, and open throughout the year, offering differing natural splendours depending on the season. The park is a great place to go for a walk, bike (you can rent bikes here), or even a horse ride. It is also a good spot for fishing, and Power Kiting! Bests of all, it has 2 playgrounds to entertain and amuse the kids. The Kingston Gate Playground has been designed with children under 5 in mind and is a popular playground for small children. It is located adjacent to the Kingston Gate Car Park, and features timber play sculptures including a fairy pergola and a tractor and trailer, plus multi use play equipment, a bark pit, a hammock, and a children's picnic area. Admission: Free to visit! Opening Times: Open from 7am in the summer and 7.30am in the winter.
