Located on the borders of Yorkshire and Derbyshire, near the towns of Rotherham, Chesterfield and Worksop and the city of Sheffield. The 750 acre park hosts a number of walking and cycling routes which link to the Trans Pennine Trail and Route 6 Sustrans.There are 5 lakes of which the main lake is 1 mile in length and utilised for watersports activities. The Watersports Centre / Activity Centre is situated at the heart of Rother Valley Country Park. It is recognised as a teaching establishment by both the Royal Yachting Association and the British Canoe Union, from this centre you can hire accessibilty scooters and cycles. Archery can also be booked through the Watersports / Activity Centre. PlayDales play area is a manned play area with climbing towers scramble nets, rope bridges, fireman’s pole and climb the climbing wall or space net, if you dare. Also offering a massive 40m aerial runway and for the younger kids we’ve probably got the biggest sand pit with play equipment in South Yorkshire. At £2.50 / child or £1.50 / child with a valid car parking ticket (up to 3 children). The nature reserve and park boasts the recording of over 260 different varieties of birds over the past two decades including rare birds; such as the Red Rump Swallow seen in the spring of 2010. |
