Rutland Falconry Centre
Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre The wilderness you won't want to leave The Rutland Falconry and Owl centre is a popular place to be and not just for people. It seems that this little corner of British countryside in the heart of beautiful Rutland, has become a sought after location for all manner of wildlife too. Since Chris Lawton chose the spot to house a fascinating collection of hundreds of birds of prey from all round the world, the wild flora and fauna has blossomed. Of course this was not just by accident and it was always the centre's aim to provide as natural a setting as possible for the owls, hawks, falcons, buzzards, eagles and even vultures whilst considering the requirements of the native plants animals and birds. Careful management of the habitat has meant that from the floor right up to the canopy there is now a much greater biodiversity resident at the centre.

There are also hidden benefits to native wildlife from all those predators' watchful eyes - songbirds are thriving at Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre with many even building nests precariously close to people and birds of prey . . . but it makes sense to keep your friends close and your enemies closer, these songbirds stand far less chance of being disrupted by the natural predators if they are kept away by the resident display birds. With maturing ponds, a purpose-built wild bird feeding station and a variety of different nesting boxes throughout the wood the Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre really is a little piece of paradise where the myriad of birds species seem to sing all year. Open to young and old for a gentle stroll round the many birds on display and further on into the various habitats via grassy woodland walks and open field perimeter tracks the centre will delight with the sights and sounds of woodland animals. Get close to a bird of prey, weather permitting – witness them in flight, photograph them, take binoculars and catch a glimpse of the many fallow deer, muntjac, foxes, badgers and other mammals or simply sit and listen to the birdsong and enjoy a well-earned break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Rutland Falconry and Owl Centre has something for everyone we guarantee to educate and inspire you Rutland Falconry & Owl Centre opens 7 days a week
