adventure and discovery. Come face to face with some of the most
beautiful, fascinating and dangerous creatures of the watery worlds.
From black tip reef sharks to spiders, lobsters to lionfish, poison dart
frogs to piranhas, loveable seals...... and not to forget our fabulous
meerkats.
Get up close and personal with our daily interactive demonstrations
which include seal feeding at 12pm and 3pm, and a rockpool ramble at
11.30am and 2.30pm. St Andrews Aquarium has a fantastic range of amazing underwater creatures brought to you from all over the world. There are over 30 exhibition tanks where you can see everything from rays to tropicals, sharks to piranhas, seahorses to sea urchins and seals. In all, 100s of species are on show for your amazement and delight. A tour of the Aquarium normally lasts about 1.5 hours - but remember, your ticket lasts all day so you can pop in and out as you please. Visit . . . the porcupine fish which is closely related to the Japanese Pufferfish(fugu). See . . . Piranhas which have rows of razor sharp teeth. South American Indians use the jaws of piranhas as scissors! Come face to face with Wolfish which use their ferocious teeth to crush shellfish. Be dazzled by our . . . harbour habitat. You'll be amazed at the variety of unseen life that abounds in our coastal harbours. Just think of all that's only a few feet away next time you're sitting on the pier. Don't be afraid . . . not all sharks are huge and dangerous! The smallest is only 10cm long and almost all of the world's 375 species are harmless to man. That means you can use the aquarium as your base for the day, popping in and out to see the demonstrations, or for lunch, entirely at your own convenience.
