Family craft and gardening activities take place during the school
holidays. The Somerset Poppies is a public installation of arti?cial poppies, to
be displayed at The Bishop’s Palace in November. The installation will
feature over 8000 poppies made by children at schools in and around
Wells. Each poppy will represent a serviceman from Somerset, or who
served in a Somerset regiment, who lost his life in World War One. The Bishops Palace is a Grand Palace surrounded by 14 acres of gardens with a Sensory Trail, 10 metre willow dragon to discover, family activities and events, and workshops. You can access the cafe, browse the shop or even access the new toilets in the Stable Yard area for free. Charges apply though to visit the medieval Palace and Undercroft, ruined Great Hall, 14 acres of gardens, and the Bishops Chapel. Seasonal Family Fun in the holidays includes trails and explorer activities, family theatre, and garden workshops. Many events are included in the price of admission and children under five years old are completely FREE. |
