The Clay Centre

The clay centre offers children's pottery parties and holiday clay clubs. The Clay Centre is run by Alistair Gillies who has, over the last 25 years, taught pottery to all ages from 4 years to 80 years, including 15 years full time secondary teaching, and since 2001 being a visiting pottery teacher at local primary schools. The children’s pottery parties let the children make their own clay face [this is NOT a paint a piece of pottery party] so every child makes something original - sometimes very original. All the children can then have a go on the potter’s wheel. Suitable age groups are from 5 years to about 13 - or when they lose interest. Party numbers can be from 6 to whole class size - I have recently had a group of 19 five year olds - which is quite a lot of five years olds!
