Nestling in a mature spruce forest on the shores of beautiful Loch Creran the Scottish Sealife Sanctuary enjoys one of the most picturesque settings in Britain, and is home to some of the UK's most enchanting marine creatures. In crystal clear waters you can explore over 30 fascinating natural marine habitats containing everything from Octopus to Sharks. Come nose to nose with the graceful rays as they swim to the surface to greet you or stand in the middle of a huge shoal of silvery herring making you dizzy as they constantly swim around you in our unique herring ring. Every day there is a range of talks and feeding demonstrations from our team of marine experts which may allow you to hand feed some of our sharks and rays or perhaps to learn about and hold some starfish and crabs. When you have done that, take a look at our SOS seal rescue facility which includes a busy Seal pup nursery and find out about the work involved in caring for the numerous stray, sickly or injured seal pups which we receive every year. Always present are our two resident common seals - Lorne and Gigha. The grace and elegance of these enchanting mammals can be viewed in our Underwater Seal Observatory. All this and much much more is undercover and outside in our extensive forest grounds we have a children's play area - can you stay on the trim trail; plus nature trails and a new forest walk. To round off the trip why not visit our beautifully situated shoreline restaurant to enjoy a snack or a full meal from our range of homebaked fayre and treat yourself to a present to remind you of your day from our Sealife gift shop. Altogether it makes for a great day out. Now in it's 29th year, The Scottish Sea Life Sanctuary opens a window into a watery wonderland . . . teeming with amazing sea creatures of astonishing variety. Nestling amidst the pine trees on the shores of picturesque Loch Creran, the Centre combines a spectacular aquarium with a busy rescue and rehabilitation facility for both common and grey seal pups. Every year, The Scottish Sealife Sanctuary, rescues, rehabilitates, and releases injured and abandoned seal pups from around the coast of scotland. Saving these unfortunate creatures from certain death requires a high degree of care and commitment. By choosing to become a sponsor, your valuable contribution will ensure that your sponsored seal is given the best chance of making a full recovery which will enable it to safely return home to the wild. For these rare unfortunate animals, who for various reasons are unable to effectively survive in the wild, your support will ensure that they live out the remainder of their lives in the safe confines of The Scottish Sealife Sanctuary. |
