Discover over 70 feet of atmospheric underground passageways and a cool rectangular chamber, first unearthed to the landowner's surprise in 1875, with some 4.6 million shells mosaiced in mysterious patterns and pictures on the walls. Still nobody knows who made it or why! A wonderful trip for all ages, and one the kids will be pondering for a lifetime! Why not go beach combing after and collect some shells for your own (probably less ambitious!) craft project at home? Strike while the kids are inspired and be sure to take bags for them so they're not running miles back and forth with one shell at a time! It may not be a terribly long stop, but that's ok you're in Margate! Hit the DOWTK listings and check out the oodles of fun ways to extend your family day out right on the doorstep. Hooray! Admission: £3.50 for adults £3 for seniors (over 60) and students £1.50 for children (aged 4 to 16) A family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children is £8. Children aged 3 and under are free! Opening Times: We are open now from 10am to 5pm every day, including Sundays and Bank Holidays, until 1 November. Winter 2015 to 16: We open weekends only through Winter, 11am to 4pm.
