Top Lodge, Fineshade Wood is a fantastic day out for families and wildlife lovers alike. There are lots of places to explore, cycle round and play in. You can build dens, look out for forest animals, or if you are really adventurous, visit our Tree House play area, tucked away in the wood.
Next to the visitor centre is the Oak Leaf play area suitable for toddlers upwards. There is plenty of seating within the play area, so that parents and grandparents can grab a few moments rest. Alternatively there is a large picnic area opposite. There are three way marked walking trails, one of which includes the wildlife hide and is all-ability. There is a family cycle trail and some blue grade taster loops to help the kids master something a bit more challenging. Cycle hire including trailer buggies for the smallest and add on trailer bikes for the slightly older, is available on site. Top Lodge, Fineshade Wood has family friendly café, with ice cream counter, plenty of seating inside and out. The Café freshly prepares meals and creates home-made soup, using seasonal produce. A selection of fruit is always available and there is a wide variety of fruit teas to choose from. Gluten free snacks are also available at the counter. The Café has a variety of high chairs and is more than happy to warm baby food and milk. Throughout the year events and activities such as den building, mini beast hunting and campfire cookery are run, please check the website for details.
