Perched grandly high on the South Downs ridge, Uppark is a tranquil and eminently explorable 18th century house commanding southern views as far as the English Channel! Uppark's variety of Georgian interiors help illustrate for kids the luxury of life ‘upstairs’, in contrast with the somewhat grimmer ‘downstairs’ world of the house's servants. There's a stunning collection of French furniture, paints and ceramics form the same period, and the Victorian Servants' Quarters are untouched, just as they were back in the day! If you've got older types who are interested in the furniture, unlikely as it seems, there's a Meet The Team session on the last Thursday of the month between April and October where one can learn about how they look after the house. Admission: Whole property: Adult: £11 Child: £5.50 Family: £27.50 Garden only: Adult: £6.60 Child: £3.30 Family: £16.50 Opening Times: Daily opening but the house, gardens, shop, cafe and tour schedules are all individual and vary seasonally as the national trust tends to. Best to use our link and check the timetables!
