Powerscourt is one of Europe’s great treasures and Ireland’s most famous Estates. Gracing the Wicklow mountains, 20km from Dublin city centre, Powerscourt is a heritage property with a surprising difference and a great family attraction. This beautiful country estate was once an important strategic site for the Anglo-Normans who came to Ireland in the 12th century. By the year 1300 a castle had been built here and was in the possession of the le Poer (Power) family from which it takes its name. The succeeding centuries saw the castle held for different periods by powerful families such as the O’Tooles and the Fitzgeralds, Earls of Kildare. Today, the aim at Powerscourt is to always present a friendly face, respond positively to the needs of visitors, and to go the extra mile in terms of quality and service.
