Restored to its Edwardian Arts and Craft splendour, Winterbourne House is a unique heritage attraction – set within seven acres of beautiful botanic gardens. Only minutes from Birmingham city centre, Winterbourne is a hidden gem – home to beautiful antiques and over 6,000 plant species from around the world. Wander along the woodland walk, stroll through the hazelnut tunnel, cross the 1930’s Japanese Bridge or simply soak up the tranquillity of this perfectly English Edwardian home. Winterbourne is one of the best surviving examples of an Edwardian Arts and Crafts suburban villa garden. Offering colour and interest throughout the year, the seven acre Grade II listed garden is home to a beautiful walled garden, striking colour themed borders, original sandstone rock garden and stream side planting. The garden also displays plants from around the globe with collections of plants from China, North and South America and the alpine areas of the world. There is also a programme of public garden events running throughout the year including open days, special interest tours, local heritage days, music concerts and an Edwardian fete. LIFE BELOW STAIRS – HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVED Date: 4th & 11th August Time: 10am-1pm Cost: £6 There are lots of jobs to do at the house to get ready for Mrs Nettlefold’s tea party. Come and help out and join in the fun. Wash the clothes, polish the silver, dress up, feed the chickens and many more things to do. Ages 6-12yrs. GARDEN FUN Date: 28th July & 25th August Time: 10am-1pm Cost: £6 Come and explore the gardens and be an eco warrior for the morning. Learn how to make paper pots, plant your own seeds and plants to take away. Discover our beehive and make friends with the chickens. Then come back to the old Kitchen and make creative crafts to take home. Ages 7-14yrs. CREATIVE CRAFTS IN THE KITCHEN Date: 1st September Time: 10am-1pm Cost: £6 Come and try your hand at some Edwardian crafts such as card making, rag rugging, making lavender bags and print making based on William Morris designs. Ages 6-12yrs. FOUND OBJECTS SCULPTURE Date: 18th August Time: 10am-1pm Cost £6 Come and spend a morning at Winterbourne, explore the gardens and house and create your own sculptures using found objects Ages 7-14yrs. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
